In a sign of the times, the University of Maryland will end print publication of The Diamondback, the schools student newspaper, one that has been in print for over 100 years. Print publication will end formally in March, 2020. For most of its history, The Diamondback was in fact a 5-day a week printed publication, but in 2015, the paper cut back to once a week.
“This is something we’ve been growing and preparing for for a while, because we all knew there would be a time when the Diamondback would cease to be a print publication,” said Leah Brennan, the paper’s editor in chief. “It’s super cool to see your name in print, but we recognize that’s not what people are reading.” (quote taken from the Washington Post Article referenced below)
